2008 Reese Miller Exchange Scholarships

The University of Michigan and the University of Cape Town

     The Reese Miller International Exchange Scholarships are awarded to exceptional students in support of Telluride Association’s mission of promoting intellectual inquiry and democratic self-government.
     The scholarship will be awarded for the 2008-2009 academic year, one for a University of Michigan student and one for a University of Cape Town post-graduate student.
     Scholarships cover one year of non-degree study, in addition to room and board, health insurance, travel to and from the exchange country, an allowance for books, and a living stipend.
     The Miller scholarships were established by a bequest from the family of Reese Miller, Deep Springs ’52, Cornell Branch ’53, Telluride Association ‘55 and Lincoln Exchange Scholar ‘59.

Eligibility for scholarship
  • Current post-graduate students at the University of Cape Town.
  • Current University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) students.  Please note that only non-graduating students are eligible to apply for this scholarship (exception for current MBTA members only).

Terms of Scholarship

     The University of Cape Town scholar will be offered room and board at the Telluride House at the University of Michigan and will be expected to fully participate in house life including the house project.
     The University of Michigan scholar will be expected to attend the Annual Telluride Association Convention prior to and after the Exchange.  The convention usually takes place in mid-June for four days.  At the convention prior to the exchange, the scholar will present a detailed project proposal.  At the convention after the exchange, the scholar will discuss his/her experiences and findings regarding the project in a public forum.
