March 1 Ithaca, NY | Bea MacLeod Memorial Fund established, supported

Beatrice MacLeod passed away on February 4, 2005. As TA's Executive Secretary from 1960 to 1982, Bea put her formidable stamp on every aspect of Telluride Association.

In her honor, Telluride Association has established the Bea MacLeod Memorial Fund. The new Fund supports TA's efforts to expand access to TASS and TASP by reducing or eliminating barriers to participation. For example, the Fund enables TA to offer travel stipends and work replacement stipends to potential TASSers and TASPers who may not otherwise be able to attend the program.

2008 Ann Arbor & Ithaca | Reese Miller Exchange Reese Miller Exchange: New international program begins.

This year, Telluride Association accepted applications from students at the University of Michigan, Cornell University, the University of Cape Town and Central European University for its new international exchange program

This year, Telluride Association accepted applications from students at the University of Michigan, Cornell University, the University of Cape Town and Central European University for its new international exchange program.

A bequest from the family of Reese Miller enabled TA to establish the Reese Miller International Exchange in 2006. Mr. Miller had a long-standing relationship with many of Telluride Association’s programs. He attended Deep Springs College in 1952, lived at the Cornell Branch of Telluride Association beginning in 1953, joined the board of Telluride Association in 1955 and participated in TA’s exchange with Lincoln College at Oxford University in 1959.

The Reese Miller International Exchange Scholarships are awarded to exceptional students in support of TA’s mission of promoting intellectual inquiry and democratic self-government. The 2008-2009 academic year will be the first in which all four legs of the exchange will be active. The Michigan Branch/the University of Michigan (UM) will host a graduate student from the University of Cape Town (UCT), and UCT will welcome a UM undergraduate for the year. The Cornell Branch/Cornell University will send one student to Central European University (CEU), and CEU will host a Cornell student on their campus in Budapest.

Scholarships cover one year of non-degree study, in addition to room and board, health insurance, travel to and from the exchange country, an allowance for books, and a living stipend. The 2008-2009 Miller Scholars will be announced soon.
