Dear Telluride Friends,

As the summer has progressed, Telluride Association has been grappling with our obligation to combat anti-Black racism and white supremacy within our summer programs, in our board governance, and in the landscape of American secondary and higher education. This, in addition to uncertainty wrought by the pandemic for the foreseeable future, has led us to pause summer programs for the 2021 summer.

This programmatic pause enables board member and staff labor to be focused on reviewing and rebuilding many aspects of Telluride Association. We intend to adjust our programmatic curriculum and organizational structures to better serve our mission and clarify the contributions we hope to make to students’ journeys while they’re with us for their Telluride summer. We will miss running these transformative programs in the 2021 year but feel strongly we must act responsibly to create sustainable structures that actively support the flourishing of Black students and other students of color.

We love running summer programs for high school students and we can’t wait to get back to serving students through our summer programs in the summer of 2022.

We know that as civic-minded individuals our affiliates and alumni place value in addressing systemic racism and we ask for your continued support during this time. 

We will share out additional news as the year goes on.

    can international students (Indian) apply for this summer program?

      Yes, our programs are open to international students. However the Association has paused the Summer Programs for 2021, so there will be no application cycle this year.

      Yes, there is no application for summer 2021. We are in the process of restructuring our summer programs, so stay tuned to announcements on our website and social media.

    What about a remote/online experience for Summer 2021?

      We have decided to not do the remote/online experience in 2021, Dianne. We plan to restart our programs in 2022, hopefully in person!

    Is it possible if we can look at the essay prompts for the 2022 summer application? If so, when at the end of 2021 do we apply and how many essays and/or writing supplements are we required to write. I am interested in pursing this program.

      We will be revising and updating our applications for the 2022 programs in the coming months. Generally, applications become available in early November on our website, and are due in early-to-mid January. Please check back on our website in the fall!

    Due to the closing of the program for the 2021 summer, will the students whom are juniors during this year be unable to apply for the summer program in 2022?

      Angela, students who are currently juniors in high school this fall are eligible to apply for the 2022 programs.
